Usually, I am lazy and just pack a lot of Mountain House type foods. But with my high sierra trail to Mt Whitney requirement of using a bear canister, I am beginning to see that I may need to re-think my normal food options. So I can fit everything in the bear vault 500 that I have purchased.

There were bear boxes at all the major camping areas when I hiked the High Sierra Trail. I just stored my food above and beyond what fit in my bear can in the boxes.

Repackaging everything in zip locks should do the trick. Anything like crackers or chips can be crushed up before you put them in the ziplock. Then you throw in little debbies, the instant potatoes, Knorr sides, Twix, snickers, gummy bears, and you can pretty much make a solid brick of food - lot of days of food in a small package.

Ok this is a horrible idea, please do NOT follow the LarryBoy Trailside Nutrition Program.
