I just checked my gear for my upcoming trip in less than two weeks.
And unfortunately I discovered a small hole in the bottom of my Gregory Z30.
Any ideas how to fix it?
It's less than an inch, but the material is also thinned out for a good part, because I used that back a lot in the last three years.
I tried with a Goretex repair kit, but it didn't work the way I thought it would.

Have you contacted Gregory? Most pack companies stand behind their products, just make sure you let them know about your patch work before hand in case that kills the warranty. You can also take it to a local boot/shoe repair shop where they can just sew on a patch of some sort.

You could also ask them about placing a rivet in the hole to drain water out :)

Duct Tape

I'd send it to the manufacturer and just throw some duct tape on both sides of it if you don't have time to send it before this trip.

okay, I went to my local store where I bought that bag 3 years ago. They can send it in to the manufacturer and they offer a customer service.
I guess it will take some time to get the bag back.
Hopefully they can fix it, because I really love that bag. Some personal stuff connected with it as well.
For my upcoming trip I just hope that duct tape will do the job for the week.

It is also helpful to draw the tear on the duct tape after you have taped the hole, this way when you remove the tape you have an idea of what way to pull the tape off that will not create a larger hole.

Oh, that's thinking!

Don't use duct tape. Get a large piece of leather and make an inner lining for the bottom of your backpack. It will be stronger and last longer, too.

Duct tape works wonders. When I was in Russia with my sister one of our suitcases got a giant hole in it. Luckily we'd packed duct tape with us so we covered the entire bottom of the suitcase with it (inside and out) . We still use it for other trips too.
