Hole in the Rock Road Conditions

I heard somewhere that Hole in the Rock Road may be washed out approximately 7 miles South of HWY 12. I can't seem to find any current information. Has anyone been down there in the past week or so that can confirm road conditions? I am planning on going to Coyote Gulch in a couple of weeks, but need to make alternate plans if the road is impassible.

Thanks,

Call the office in Escalante: (435) 826-5499

They'll have all the info you need. If it got hit anything like the Buckhorn Draw road in the Swell, it's toast. BIG floods on Thursday.

I spent the weekend down hole in the rock road. They had just opened the road Friday morning (10/23). We ran down to Willow Gulch to see Broken Bow Arch and then drove the rest of the way to Hole in the Rock as some in our group hadn't seen it before. The road was in awful shape past Hurricane Wash. Half the road was gone in some spots (2 to 3 feet deep) and deep puddles. We stopped to make sure a Subaru car made it through a Long deep puddle just before Hurricane Wash. They had planned to drop in to Coyote Gulch from 40 mile Ridge but there car didn't have the ground clearance to go any further. We also made it up the Egypt road to do Neon Canyon. The road was rough but no rougher than normal. We were driving a Toyota Tundra. Good luck...

Thanks for all the replies. Would I be able to make it to Chimney Rock (my preferred entry into Coyote Gulch) in a pickup truck, assuming no further road degradation between now and then? If not, then Hurricane Wash is OK too.

Sounds like the puddle that stopped me. Was very tempted to try it but being solo and in a rental, I eventually thought better of it :( I would have given it a shot had it been my own car...

The puddles were draining pretty quick. From when we drove through the large puddle on Friday to when passed back through it Saturday it was noticeably lower...

Anyone know if it's been graded yet this year? This makes it sound like it has not. (I'm lazy too call and figured someone here would know. =)) Thanks.
