After not getting back to Utah for a few years, I finally made it to the High Uintas!

Our plan was to go into the Granddaddy Basin and then figure out our route from there. There are so many lakes and trails to explore it gives you quite a few options. The basin sees a lot of people and is considered a high-use area. We did see plenty of people during our trip. We had heard that Fern Lake was less popular than other lakes in the basin so we went that way first. That didn't quite pan out the way we had hoped for so we backtracked to Granddaddy Lake and then moved on you Mohawk Lake. We ended up staying there a couple days before walking out.

Thanks for watching!

Love your edit style. I'm really surprised at how crowded you found Fern Lake to be. That's a bummer. I had it all to myself one Friday night last summer. With no trail to it, lots of log hopping to get over to it, and all that, I would have figured it would have remained off the radar for most everyone that's been hitting the mountains this summer. Apparently that just hasn't been the case. Looks like Mohawk turned out to be a little more open and scenic though? I just did a trip last week stringing together Allsop, Priord, upper Rock Creek, and Dead Horse all along one loop route and was completely alone for all three nights I had camped, only having a few groups of Highline hikers pass by in the afternoon when at Dead Horse. Probably helped that it was all mid-week too. I don't know what circumstances are going to keep you away from Utah/Uintas for some time to come now, but wish you all the best in whatever new chapter of life you're forging ahead with.

I think that we hit Fern on a Tuesday as well.. strange. The people who were camped there said that they have never seen people in there either. Unfortunately we didn't get there soon enough and missed the good campsites. The fishing wasn't that great either. There were quite a few people at Mohawk as well, it's just better suited for a bunch of campers. Sounds like you had a great trip! At some point I'll get over that way myself. I'll be waiting to see your video!

Definitley had that happen before where normally less-used areas for some reason that particular day had lots of people. Everyone must have been thinking on the same wavelength leading up to it haha

also your vids are awesome. Your narration style is perfect.
