Hidden Valley is a tributary of Blue Notch Canyon south of Hite.
Blue Notch and its road is mainly used for lake access on Lake Powell and the smaller Hidden Valley with its mining history often missed. The same happened to us on our first visit. Returning from Castle Butte on the bank of the lake we saw on our second trip late in the afternoon this spur into the valley. Beautiful sunlight gave us a chance for some nice pictures. Turnoff is at 12S 0555550 4177792. The road is a good and easy one at the beginning gradually becoming more eroded later. Not a through road!
Pictures:
Freshly graded road into the valley
Hidden Valley
Wingate Sandstone high above
Deeper in the Valley
The road becomes smaller
Steep Wash - no road crossing
Eroded road on the south side of the wash
Last picture from an easy and nice little side trip
