Greetings from North Cackalack. After years of reading trip reports here I figured I might as well sign up. I'm planning a lengthy spring trip to the Four Corners this year, so maybe I'll run into some of you, whether by plan or fate. For the "record" : My earliest memory of camping is around 6yo, waking late one night in the Great Smokies with my mom shushing me until the bear rubbing against our tent awning pole went away. First backpacking was a Girl Scout multi-night in the WY Bighorns in '79, tube socks and a Kelty external frame. The gear is better these days, but the joy is still the same. Also, hello to IntrepidXJ, yes, we seem to end up on a lot of the same forums (Fora?) because of our Jeeps. His is nicer than mine, though.
