I just got back into backpacking after a good 20 year hiatus. I love being out on the trail and of course I try to get out there as often as possible. Recently took a trip out to the Eagle Rock Loop trail in Arkansas which I'll have to revisit again soon as we were not able to complete it.

Looks like I'll enjoy reading the threads on this forum and will certainly post trip reports when I can.

Welcome back. I'm a Katrina Refugee transplanted to East Texas.
I was in the same boat. Overly long layoff from backpacking. I finally retired in March. I skipped Arkansas for practice after reading about the trail conditions in the summer.
I focused on returning to Colorado, scene of my earliest trips. Long story short. I left Texas on September 1. On or about September 4 I was at 12,000'+. Loved it!
Go west! Have fun.
