Hello from central California

I'm eric, from Fresno, and I hike in California's Sierra Nevada. Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia are my "backyards" but i'm drawn more to the wildernesses in between like Kaiser and such. Less tourists.

Trying to get my gear just right, for lightweight hikes. Just got my first quilt, love it! need another for colder weather. I typically do not like backpacking and saw it as a necessary evil to do the high country fly fishing i love. But now backpacking itself is an equal interest. Just bought an Osprey Atmos 65 AG last year, and a new Copper Spur HV UL2 mtnGLO at a great price, just barely beating out my top choice from Tarp Tent. I hope I do not regret it. And now thinking i may want one of the cottage industry lightweight backpacks like from ULA or ZPacks.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Nice to meet you. I actually grew up in fresno (behind Clovis west) and now live in utah. I'm trying to plan a backpacking trip back to those central CA mountains sometime. I'll hit you up for advice when I do. Which quilt did you get? For what it's worth, I didn't have a great experience with my tarptent. I'm taking out a nemo hornet for the first time next week. I'm hoping that works better for me.

well hello! i picked up the 800-fill downtek quilt from Massdrop, the 35 degree version for abut $200. It was a partnership with Enlightened Equipment, made by EE to MD specs. It's worked well on 3 of 4 nights around 10,000 feet. the last time, last week, i think temps dropped to below freezing and even with my NeoAir XTherm mat, i was a bit cold during the night.. hit me up when you need some intel, always happy to help.
