Heading North

But there have been undocumented reports for at least a decade. Sort of akin to my wife and I running into a grizzly sow and second year cubs in the Tobacco Roots a full decade before MT Fish Wildlife and Parks announced they were present and we even sent them photos. I have been expecting them to arrive on our place for years. I don't venture anywhere here without protection. The risk is low but definitely not zero.

Grizzlies have been pushing further east in Alberta, into what was once their historical range extending across the prairies.15 years ago I sighted one about 30 km from the mountains in the moderately populated, quite open farm and acreage countryside SE of Calgary. Since then they have been documented much further to the east, especially in the southern part of the province.

I don't worry about them ... I live in the middle of high populations of them

Yes it seems the Grizzlies are slowly expanding their ranges everywhere. Have in the past tried to keep track of this. Would hear something occasionally. But often the authorities are quiet on this to not alarm people. For there are many people who still do not want the big bear around it seems. Have heard they occur now way out on the prairies east of Glacier and the Bob Marshall. And Montana will let the bears be if they stay out of trouble. They have also been recorded in Wyoming now way southeast of Yellowstone, like even outside of Lander or up in the Wyoming Range, and such. Just waiting for the day when the expanding populations of Yellowstone going north meet the expanding populations from the Glacier area heading south. They have to get across those Interstate Highways though. Will love it when they are again in the Bitterroots of Montana and Idaho. Along with the Central Wilderness Country of Idaho again. Go Go Go Grizzlies!!!!

Personally I have come to trust Grizzlies more then many people for they have never stabbed me in the back like people do. Have had many close encounters with them, including Sows with Cubs. And it seemed like if you give the bears their space, then they will respect you and give you your space. And if you took care of your camp and kept a clean camp, then they would not likely come into your camp from my experiences. Now very rarely did I have ever ever a Grizzly or a Black Bear in my camp. But often their tracks would be some ways away from my camp nearby. They might not come into my camp but they knew I was there. Again do trust Grizzlies now then most people! Have had so many despicable overdominating narcissistic people in my life, who have given me a hardtime it seems for the slightest of reasons. Do feel safer hiking in, camping, and being in deep Grizzly Country surrounded by bears, then being in ANY big city populated with many crazy humans anywhere on the planet.

Plus being in bear country helps teach us humans to be aware of what is happening around us at all times. The Grizzly is a Great Teacher on this.

Just my opInion for whatever it is worth.
