Gots me a new camera...

So what is the best wired trigger for this camera? So I can start playing around with star trails.

I just got a little cheap one on amazon.com.. 10 bucks or so? It works just fine. Good girl!

Congrats, Chere!

I also don't see why you'd need an intervalometer for doing night stuff. I use this cheap Canon wired trigger for pretty much everything I do after dark. An intervalometer is really only needed for time lapse where you need longer intervals than a shutter release between exposures.
Pretty sure this is what I use too.

If you want an intervalometer too, they are available almost as cheap. This intervalometer is basically like what I have (in addition to my basic wired trigger). It works with the T2i and other Canon cameras with the 2.5mm mini jack connection. I always bring my other trigger though. I just don't trust this thing as much, its really cheap and requires batteries, the regular wired trigger does not. But if you want to do day time time lapse, you would need that.

Whys that?

An intervalometer allows you to set the shutter speed, time between shots, number of shots to take, and you can also set it up to delay your start time. If you are shooting consecutive shots one right after another then the regular wired trigger will work fine but for day time timelapses where you will have a fast shutter speed and you want to take a picture every 5, 10, or 15 seconds you will need an intervalometer to do it. A regular wired trigger does not have that capability.

Yep, that's true. For times when you are shooting continuously you would only need the regular wired trigger. I picked up an intervalometer so that I could do both with one remote.

SWEET! I was thinking I screwed up and got the wrong one! Glad I can still "try" to do a star trails!!!

I bought one for a copper penny plus 4.99 shipping. :D It might work it might not but for a one little cent I just had to see. Let ya know. If not I will get the $10 one. Bought extra batteries and 32 gig card(one of the good ones). We should be set with this camera and a Gopro for awhile. Sooo when I have something worth getting excited about I will a let ya'll know.
