I'm planning a storm chasing trip in August and am trying to keep it fairly cheap. I see that you can camp in Valley of the Gods but it appears to be first come, first serve. If anyone has camped here, is it possible to drive in around noonish and find a spot? Ditto for Goosenecks? If there are better options in the area please let me know-thanks!

The last time I was at the Goosenecks it was during the week a few years ago and had the place to myself. I would think by noon would be ample time to find a spot. My only other suggestion would be to head towards Cedar Mesa via the Moki Dugway, and try Muley Point, as there some great spots up there, spectacular views of Monument Valley.
Have fun.

Plenty of places to camp along the road in Valley of the Gods. Should have no trouble finding a spot no matter what time you show up.

That's a great idea, I'm going to research it now!

Awesome, thanks guys! Hopefully will be posting the pics in about 3 weeks or so. :D

I will be in that area at the beginning of June. Where did you end up staying? Thanks!
