The next trip after the Rosenlaui Glecier Gorge was the Gelmersee.

We took the bus from Meiringen to Handeck where the steepest funicular od Europe goes up the mountain.
Due to the limited capacity (24 people per trip, goes every 30 mins), we had to wait a bit.
During that time, I explored the swing bridge next to the station.

It's quite a strange felling, especially when there is oncoming traffic and people have to pass each other.

Finally, we got onto the cable railway and enjoyed the great view.

The funny thing is that you sit in rear-facing seats which provides a great view. Some people got a bit nervous due to the free sight to the really steep track. In the above picture, we already passed the steepest part.

Reaching the top, we headed to the lake which in fact is a reservoir.

Our goal was to hike around the lake which quite easy because the track mostly follows the waterfront. It takes only approx. 1.5 hours.

The water had a beautiful turquoise color.

The dam.

About halfway, we stumbled upon some nice little waterfalls.

It was end of july and there was still some snow.

Some alpine roses were still blossoming.

Suddenly, a dog walked into the picture. It was windy, look at the dog's ears ;-)

The last part of the trail goes along a huge wall.

Some people were taking a bath. :cold:

The funiculaire was full so we had to wait for the next one...
