Food protection in SE Utah?

Hey Folks, what kind of food protection do I need to prepare for in SE Utah: Cedar Mesa, Escalante, Capitol Reef?
Coming from CA and Grand Canyon hiking where we need to worry about bears and rodents, I’m not sure what is necessary in the above mentioned areas.

Hanging? Rat sacks?
Thanks for your advice everyone,
Anne Marie

Bryce requires a bear canister and I heard they are now also required for some areas in Canyonlands? Everywhere else I don't carry anything, and I doubt other people do. If in doubt you can always find information on the corresponding NPS or BLM website.

I have used just a stuff sack in the Escalante, but I would recommend at least an Ursack, there are definitely bears in there, at least up in the northern parts. A bear canister and an Ursack should have you pretty well covered. Have fun!
