Fable Valley Backpack?

Trying to make best use of my Utah Spring trip. Now I'm looking at Fable Valley. Prime issue seems to be water and gas. Looks like a pretty long drive from either 191 or 95. My Xterra tank is pretty small for this distance, especially from the last gas in Blanding.

I know of Sweet Alice Spring and a few others that will be out of range. I'm interested in the feasibility of a backpack trip into Fable Valley.

My questions are:

Which way do you think is best, 95/ Natural Bridges or 191/Beef Basin?

Do you take extra gas?

Would a back pack be a dry ruck based on known water sources?

A lot here so what you know is appreciated.

Which way is best? I would say if you are coming from the south then 95/Natural Bridges, and if you are coming from the north then 191/Beef Basin. Both are pretty easy roads and should give you no issues in an Xterra.

I typically do not take extra gas when I head out into this area unless I plan on spending a few days driving around Beef Basin.

I've never backpacked in Fable Valley, but I have day-hiked a couple of times. There is a really good spring where Wild Cow Canyon meets Fable Valley (Fable Spring) and it flows for quite a way.

Thanks I have that spring mapped now. Looks like some ruins there also.

Come in by newspaper rock thru cathedral up towards kigalia....Roads good unless wet. Camp just off main road....What looks like road into canyon deadends. Add on for yep there's a nice set of kiva's a day hike into Bowdie

Yes look in resource section....Have a lot mapped and gpx
