On my way north I was able to spend a couple nights with my good friends who live close to the Forest at the base of the mountain. He and I took a nice dayhike. Up at the top the annual rainfall can be 200”. Where we went it’s closer to 140” with a temp bottoming maybe in the low/mid 60’s on a ‘winter’ night. Plants grow real good. Tends to be a bit muddy.

only 140" of rain a year! So crazy to think of an inch or so a few times a week. I imagine a lot of slick mud in places.
Looks really cool and I like the large snails.

Thanks @Jackson. Thought it would be fun to add something different here.
only 140" of rain a year! So crazy to think of …
About 10 times what you get there in parts of Utah. The sky just opens up and drops a few inches sometimes. On the top it’s a cloud forest where it drizzles most of the time. My buddy brings an umbrella, way too sweaty for rain gear if you’re moving at all. Spring is generally dry season. Not a drop for us that day though the mud still topped my ankles in a couple spots.

…like the large snails.
They’re about 3” diameter and the most common wildlife around. A smattering of birds, some non native rats and rabid mongooses, plus bugs but that’s about it for critters.
