Did the loop over Labor Day weekend. A lot of the trail has been washed away by the major flood that occurred sept 1st. There is now an obligatory swim about 200 feet long just after the narrows if going downstream. A lot of quicksand everywhere. Going is slower than normal but still doable for the patient. Still absolutely stunning. A lot of old growth trees ripped up and lodged in random places. Crazy to see how high the creek was.

I've previously hiked that in the after a flash flood. It was tedious with lots of dead fish. When it was previously a swimmer, you used to be able to scrunch and carefully skirt around the right side (facing down canyon) of the deep pool in the narrows section.

swimmers are one of my favorites things in DH.......... !!
