My girlfriend and I will be spending a weekend in Denver soon, and I convinced her to let me take her hiking and whitewater rafting while we are there. We will be traveling from Denver to Buena Vista for rafting and have an entire day scheduled in for hiking/seeing the views along the way. Are there any good short hikes any of you would recommend around there?
She has never been to the mountains, so this will be a first for her. I am looking for casual hikes that will present her with some neat scenery. She is in good enough shape that these hikes can be 2 to 3 miles in length. I am not sure yet if we will try multiple short hikes, or one longer hike. That depends on what I can find.
We will also be camping somewhere along the way to Buena Vista so any recommendation on camping locations is welcome too. For camping, I'd like to not just pull over and camp and would rather have to hike a short distance to camp to give her a bit of a backpacking feel.
