Evenin'.
I'm planning another Escalante multi day with the wife.
We've done a few gulch/canyons to the river before. The last one was Willow to the river, packrafts to Davis, over to 50 to the River then back up.

I am insane thinking about Coyote then heading without the rafts this time the 5+ miles down to Cow. Either way we'll be returning to the same vehicle.
I'm seeing 3,700 on the Lake Height which should be 4mi down...

Thanks muchly.

Funny, I assumed you were talking about Coyote Canyon to Collins Canyon through Grand Gulch. I hadn't registered the word "river".

We walked down the Escalante River from the town of Escalante to Cow Canyon in the beginning of May, 2009. https://doingmiles.com/2009-04-escalante/ I don't recall the lake level from our trip, but it should be easy enough for you research that. What we found was this. The lowered river had eroded down through the years of deposited sediments to roughly lake level. The cut banks were often quite vertical and definitely appeared unstable. This forced us to wade more than usual when following the river, but it wasn't really a problem. When we were there, the lake started somewhat below the entrance to Cow and areas immediately upstream from the lake were impassible mud and sand. We were able to access Cow itself without any significant problems. There is an 2nd class upstream entrance to Cow at 12S 504645E 4138795N if you can't get in at the mouth of the canyon itself.
We enjoyed Cow quite a bit as it showed very few signs of recent human activity.
