In what has seemingly become an annual trip for my family we traveled from our home in AK to explore some new to us areas in UT.

yurt1.JPG Our mountain biking base camp for the first 5 days at Dead Horse Point State Park. Real bummer that there now is a very large drill rig in operation across from the yurts that lights up the night sky.

yurt2.JPG Sunset at DHPSP.

lime 1.JPGToday we drove from Moab to Lime Canyon. Along the way we stopped at Edge of Cedars State Park Museum where the kids were able to see the original ladder from a Kiva we were hoping to see the next day. Crazy for us to think that we traveled all the way from Alaska on planes and bumpy dirt roads to camp at this one particular spot. So worth all the effort.

lime 2.jpgThe first night my daughter and I dropped into the canyon from camp and happened upon this ruin. She had so much fun finding a safe route up to it.

Oops, dad forgot the tent poles back at home.

lime 3.JPG Enjoying the sunset our first night. Sweet spot!

lime 5.JPG I loved this campfire ring. I didn't notice the ruins on the knob across the way until our third day there.

Taking a break on the hike to the Kiva.

My daughter entering the Kiva on the replica ladder. Quote from my son after exiting the Kiva and looking around at the surrounding beauty " I can see why they felt like they were entering a new world".

Clawing our way back out of the canyon.

Back on the ledge.

slick 6.jpg Here my son learned hopefully what was a life lesson. Don't chase your fallen water bottle over a cliff. Very scary moment.

bluff.JPG Onto Bluff for the Arts Festival. One night at the Recapture Lodge- definitely would stay there again.

Back up the Moki Dugway for the final hike of the trip.

moon2.JPG Magical Place.

Loved the stone work.

Miss the brilliant blue skies and yellow leaves.

We had an awesome trip with some great adventures along the way. I sure do miss it down there.

Beautiful report. It brings back some great memories with our son and his friends. We explored Lime and McCloyd, and most of the canyons on Cedar Mesa. You get a whole different perspective with kids, learning from their questions and comments.
