Greetings from Alaska and thank you in advance for taking the time to scope this out. I'm trying to get to the Needles District from Moab without a car in mid-April for a five-night backcountry trip and was hoping to find some information on how to best get there. It doesn't look like there's any public transportation whatsoever and I have no qualms hitchhiking, as I do for most of my out-of-state trips. Am I missing something? I searched high and low but can't seem to zero in on any other options. Thanks again for all of your time and effort!

I've hitched a ride in the opposite direction and it was quite straightforward. In Moab, I believe that the Lazy Lizard Hostel is popular with climbers heading out to the Indian Creek area, so you could ask around there to see if you could get a ride, at least part of the way. Of course, the most exciting option for reaching Needles is the jet-boat from Moab, run by Tex's Riverways.

This is an excellent answer. I found hitching from the needles to Moab to be pretty easy, but the other way would be harder. Second the Lazy Lizard suggestion.
