Sheila and I had a nice day hike to the top of Black Mountain Ridge yesterday. It was nice to get up above the haze in the valley for a bit.

Getting ready at the trailhead. Somebody's shadow got in the way. :)

Only remaining flower that I saw - maybe some goldenaster

03.jpg
I'd done the Avenues Twin Peaks the day before, so I was covering the same ground at the beginning - the south twin above

04.jpg
Hard to see, but there are a rafter of turkeys on the hillside heading towards the scrub oak

The South Avenues Twin. We are curving around on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail

A few leaves still with some vivid color to them

And one fallen with frost around its edges

There is your snow @Bob, maybe a 1/4 inch. :) North Avenues Twin above.

Black Mountain ahead. All we have to do is follow the ridge which has a bit of up and down to it.

Sheila, working her way uphill. We had a coyote serenading us all the way to the top of the ridge. It was yipping somewhere down
in City Creek Canyon.

Search and Rescue? Hopefully, they will give me a lift to the top. :)

That much further to the top

Antelope Island through the haze, where I hope to be tomorrow.

The workhorses for this hike: an old 2003 Canon Digital Rebel, and a Canon PowerShot G7 which was acting up. I may have
bought a lemon. :(

A BCP welcome. Wrist update - I have been put in another custom made brace for at least five more weeks. I will be getting a
steroid shot into the TFCC in two weeks to see if it will help calm down the pain when I twist my wrist. We shall see.

View down Dry Canyon. That far hill on the right looks like a good slope for one of @Bob 's horse trails. :D

43.jpg
Looks like one short dog over there.

A Corgi?

Back at the Sube. The hike took us about 5.5 hours roundtrip.

The End.

New term for me. Always called them a covey or just flock.
Such a great area for day hikes. Good luck with that wrist.

It is a great place for day hikes. The foothill ones get you some exercise and then also allow you to get some other things done with the rest of your day.

More time, a brace and injection. Some PT too? or not yet?

Is that the lightweight kilt for the still too warm fall weather?
It was very nice this weekend. Some more snow on the way hopefully.
The golden fields and foothills look great. Nice shots.

I just finished six weeks of PT early last week. It didn't do anything for my wrist, so they have braced me back up with a slightly different kind of brace. :( I'm assuming there might be more PT starting the first week of December when I can take the brace off? I've got a list of tough questions that I'll be asking the doctor when I go in for my injection two weeks from today.

No, it is actually one of my colder weather kilts that I wore. The car said that it was 37 degrees at the trailhead, but by the time we got to the top the thermometer on my day pack said 46, and the car said 53 when we got back to it.

Yeah, I just love the golden grasses this time of year.
