Backpacking Pennsylvania's Loyalsock Trail

Pennsylvania usually isn't at the top of anyone's list of destinations but it does offer a lot of backpacking. One of the most popular is the 59 Mile Loyalsock Trail in the Endless Mountains Region. I grew up in PA and planned to hike it 20 years ago. After leaving the state I never got back to backpack until a few weeks ago when I combined it with a trip visiting family. The mountains of my childhood. My first solo backpacks were the Gifford Pinchot Trail (Poconos) and Black Forest Trail (The Northern Tier).
 
I spent a summer living near Williamsport when I was younger. Didn't get to do any backpacking, but I tried to get out as much as possible for day hikes and fishing. I really loved that area. Thanks for taking me back!

My veins too! The Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania. The land of numerous forests and fields, countless streams and lakes, plenty of summits and valleys. The photos were taken in the vicinity of Williamsport PA.
