This is a remote old cow camp in the Nebraska Sandhills, labelled "Arnold Camp" or "Steer Creek Camp" depending on the map you're using, but most recent maps have settled on the latter name. Photo taken in 2011. I was going to backpack out to see this spot again this weekend, but the Sandhills are pretty much all on fire (including very close to this spot) so I will have to hope it survives the fires so I can visit it another time.

From the archives. It's hard to believe that 15 years have gone by since then, the last of what was an annual trip to Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in B.C. We spent 4 nights in Jones Cabin, named after legendary backcountry ski pioneer Ken Jones.

Lunch stop at the Bryant Creek warden cabin in Banff National Park on the 25 km ski out from Assiniboine. Sadly, out friend Liz (on the left) is no longer with us.
