Hello everyone, new member here. My name is Loran, and I’m a 11 year resident of Colorado, having moved to the mountains west of Boulder after 50 years in New Hampshire.
I found this forum while researching the “impassible landslide” at the San Juan River end of Grand Gulch in Bears Ears. There looks to be a wealth of information here, and I hope to become a contributing member of the community.
My experience begins as a climber, including most of the big walls in Yosemite, the Grand Teton, Mont Blanc and other peaks in the Alps, frozen waterfalls and cliffs of New England, to name a few.
More recently I’ve been spending time on solo backpacking trips including Upper Grand Gulch, Death Hollow and other slot canyons near Escalante, Grand Canyon rim to rim, Point Lookout Canyon to the San Juan and return via Slickhorn, and the Fish/Owl Loop in Bears Ears.
Day trips in my neighboring Indian Peaks include the Blue Lake Traverse, and the North Ridge of Neva to Jasper Peak traverse. This last trek is detailed in my trip report here: The North Ridge of Never
Cheers!
