Just got back from a over nighter in the Southern California San gorgonio wilderness , which is in the San Bernardino National forest. This was my 10yr old daughters first backpack trip . She is hooked and absolutely had a great time . This was 9 miles round trip . This trail will actually take you to San gorgonio peak which is the tallest here in Southern California at 11,502’.

Great! And what a cool first trip. Big vert, eh? I think San Gogonio has one of the greatest reliefs from base to top anywhere.

Hopefully the start of many proud pictures to come next to a wilderness boundary sign!

So glad that she enjoyed herself. I thiiiink if my family had ever tried to take me out backpacking at that age, I would have hated it. Ahh how time changes you.
