If you are staying near I-95 then Brandywine State Park is fine in Delaware. If you are going into LSD (Lower Slower Delaware) then Trap Pond State Park is great along with Cape Henlopen State Park. Also Assateague State park on the Maryland coast is nice. Shenandoah National Park is beautiful...
If he has EEEE size feet, then steer clear of the euro brands like La Sportiva , Scarpa, etc. Look at Merrell, Oboz, and Keen, or any brand that has “wide” width. Good luck.
Try ‘Old Rag Mountain’ in Shenandoah National Park. It is a great 7 mile hike with a lot a rock scramble at the top.
Also try the ‘Billygoat Trail’ at Great Falls Park right outside D.C.

It is interesting that all of the museums and national monuments in DC are free, where law makers spend most of their time, but cost money every where else. I would be interested to see what the cost of the attractions in DC are in comparison to the whole park service budget. Maybe I am...
