Yeah, this was our fifth year doing a trip there this time of year, and it was by far the warmest and driest I've experienced. Makes life easier, but I kinda wished it had rained or snowed just a bit. Haha.
Sounds like it was a week-long solo trip? That's not a trip I'd be brave enough to try solo. Rainy and foggy when he summitted. Probably a pretty sketchy descent.
Congratulations! What a place to propose.
This has me excited for my annual trip to the area in a little bit.
A note on where you set your tent the first night. That area turns into a pond if it rains a lot. Ask me how I know. Haha. The actual designated tent site is in the meadow uphill...
I hadn't logged in since before last weekend and am late getting to this! What a route! Absolutely loved looking through. Going to have to re-read it in detail.
Given that many portions of Bechler Meadow have standing water year-round, I'd be hesitant to go off-trail for very long if at all. Unless you don't mind wet feet and mud.
I'm just thinking of the little sections along the trail where the water is 6" deep even in late September and early...
I'm kicking myself this year for missing out on yet another amazing Southern Absarokas trip with you all. Let's get it next year!
I'll be in the southern Madisons this weekend thinking of you all.
