@Nick , I'm not saying they don't see the traffic as a problem, but I am skeptical (at best) that they see overcrowding/over-visitation as a problem. It's the whole Industrial Tourism issue, isn't it? Getting rid of the roads into the Parks won't ever happen though, because the gov't wants...

I just don't think there's any incentive for the gov't to fix the problem...and I dare say they probably don't even feel like there IS a problem.

The only chuck wagon dinner I saw was at dornans but didn't eat there. Jackson seems to have a ton of good burger places. The best we had was (I think) called The Bird. That would also be a good place to put back a few beers.

I struggle with the same thing. I bailed on a trip on 4th of July weekend because of the forecast and it ended up barely raining. Seems like I almost always regret bailing when I do. That said, the weather in the East this spring/summer has been horrific so bailing isn't a terrible option...

That's exactly where I'm coming from as well. On the other hand, when you climb up to that viewpoint you really do feel like you've accomplished something...unlike those lazy western hikers who can get a great view just by driving up to the trailhead. :rolleyes:

I must have hit it on a good day when I went in May. Once I passed Orderville Canyon I was almost alone. On topic...I liked to feel of Springdale when I was there. If I were a local restaurant owner, I would absolutely fear the impact of Subway, and the inevitable McD's, Taco Bell, etc...

Have others had trouble using smartwater bottles with the mini or squeeze? I found that the bottles get pretty deformed after one or two "squeezes" through the filter. I much prefer using the pouch for the "dirty" water and squeezing it into the bottles.
