Sorry to tell you this but Boulder Mountain on 12 has pretty much peaked and even has snow at the higher altitudes, it happened early this year. There are a few trees that haven't turned at all which might give you some late colour.

Does the SD card work well with the S5? I've had three S4s now (oops) and all of them had SD card problems with various brands of card, I've given up on them.

The other thing that's confusing is that a lot of the roads on Boulder Top have been closed but are still on maps and easily seen on satellite pictures. Are you looking for a lake on the top or on the flanks?

My Samsung S4 seems to have a very accurate GPS, I use it every day to track my walks and it's usually right on. It isn't triangulating because we only have one cell phone tower in this area.

There's no question that a dSLR will take better pictures than a phone and most P&S cameras will too, but for me the phone has a few advantages. It's small, I almost always have it in my pocket and when I have signal (surprisingly often given where I live right next to Capitol Reef) I can share...

That 400' down and then up again to Mt Ellen is daunting when you are out of shape. I decided not to climb back up on the way back from Mt Ellen and instead skirted round the west side trying to get back to the path - don't do it! I was forced further and further down the side of the mountain...
