Headless Valley- Film about traveling the Nahanni River

This just went on my list to read. Sounds fantastic. The Nahanni has been on my pie in the sky list for a while. Fun to dream about, and I'd love to go up there someday.

    Hiking Naked?

Yes, always a good reminder how the internet amplifies a lot of voices and perspectives that aren't actually common or mainstream!

    Guess the spot

I always assume Wall Lake when I hear about golden trout in the Winds. Even though I've never been there, I don't think this lines up right to be that. Haha.

    What's Cooking?

Looks like you were eating good! I just ate lunch but this makes me hungry anyway. And good to see there was no shortage of dark beers. I'll never forget your disappointment when they had none at the Merry Piglets in Jackson haha.

Help! Looking for a 1-2 day trip

At least in my opinion, the Uintas aren't too cold in mid September. I'd guess temperatures would be high 20s or low 30s at night, 50s or 60s during the day. Low chance of precipitation. No bugs. Far fewer people. Perfect time to be out and hit the normally busy areas, if you ask me. For a...

    Hiking Naked?

Best of luck to them! I'd be worried about catching a criminal charge. Haha. On top of the sunburn and rubbing from pack straps!

YNP Fawn Pass to Sportsman, Crescent, Shelf Lake

Fantastic write up and photos. This is a spot I want to do some backpacking in since it's so close to me. I've only really xc skied in the area, and it sure looks good in summer! Your retelling of the bear encounter made my hair stand on end. Stopping six feet in front of you! Wow. Glad you...

    Shakedown - Yellowstone Thorofare

Be sure to come back and share some photos/thoughts from the trip when you get back! As you can see, we have a lot of Thorofare/Southern Absarokas fanatics around here, myself included.

    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

I think that's likely in the background, so it's yours. We had exited Burro Wash and were headed back to the car!

    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

Definitely not Canyonlands side. This is a not-so-stunning approach to a cool spot. We we were walking away from it at this point though.

    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

You're thinking correctly. Because it's pretty generic looking unless you've been there, I'll add that this is just probably a half mile or less outside a national park boundary.

    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

Definitely has me wondering where you're standing still! Looks a little higher/more precipitous than most of the bluffs around there that aren't north of Torrey.

Naturalist Basin: Blue Lake to Shaler Lake?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I was just saying if you wanted to spend two nights up there, it could make for a good way to spend some time on the second day. Then you'd hike out the day after. You could probably do it and hike out on the same day too if you really wanted.

Naturalist Basin: Blue Lake to Shaler Lake?

I thought one night was enough, personally, but I also don't sit in one place for very long backpacking. I'm not familiar with the peaks around there, but it looks like Spread Eagle Peak could be a good summit for day 2 if you decided to do two nights. I don't fish, but if you do, that could...
