Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Nine / Day Nine + Ten!

And I can confirm that even on the ground you can't follow it all the way through haha. This was a "good" section where there was an impression on the ground you could still follow. Doesn't really even show in the photo.

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Nine / Day Nine + Ten!

It's probably a wash haha. The bushwhack probably lost us most of the time we were trying to save by taking the shorter route. I don't remember it being too bad down to the creek, but maybe it's gotten worse since I was there a bit over 6 years ago, or I just don't remember that stretch of...

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Nine / Day Nine + Ten!

Very nice! I have a photo of that view down from the headwaters of the South Buffalo Fork hanging in my office. It's also the banner picture on my profile, but you can't tell because it's cut off. Is the "south turning spur trail" you mentioned the one that crosses Cub Creek about 3/4 of the...

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Eight / Day Eight

Cool to see some places I've been! I thought that Bear Cub Pass would make such a good camp site when I passed through there a while back. Hard to believe that was over 6 years ago. I've gotta go back next year! Very useful information about Bob's Canyon.

    What's Cooking?

I tried that for the first time recently and was surprised by how good it was. Think I'll make it again this week now that you've reminded me!

Love it! Great work. And honestly hardly remember most of the places in those shots from when I went several years ago. I need to go back.

    Paw prints, help pls!

Cool find! They sure look like small black bear tracks to me.

    Winter Visitors

How big would you say they were? All I get at my house is dog prints and dog crap.

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Six / Day Six

Great bear encounters and photos! I say it about each day of this trip I've seen, but what a day! I'm enjoying being the designated judge of the nightly camp dinner shot hahaha. Goes hard, as always!

    Winter

I'm looking to get my xc skis out this weekend! 8 inches down here in the valley over the last 2-3 days, and we've barely cracked 20F in that time period. Maybe going below 0 tonight. Seems like this happens every year in late October, then it warms up again for the next few weeks.

Haha. I imagine most of it is buried in the brush, but there's actually an old boiler thing that's in the shallow water at the head of the lower lake. It's right near the backcountry campsite, from what I understand. Here's a photo from another site:

Good for Jeff! Haven't seen much of him around here lately. And look at those flowing locks! Did you guys take a look at the old relics from the oil drilling at the upper head of (lower) Kintla? I've wanted to go see that for a while but didn't have time to go that far when I went to Kintla a...

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Five / Day Five

I'd say that camp picture of the gang still goes hard. The slight smiles are nice but I can tell you guys are still tough as nails. Awesome day! I love coming across spots like that where there are tons of bear tracks in both directions. And I'm kind of like you in that I like to clean off the...

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Four / Day Four

As far I understand, in this instance, it would mean that you all look badass/cool. Haha.

Yellowstone's Thorofare and the Teton Wilderness 08/09/2023 - 08/18/2023 Part Four / Day Four

I am here for the continuing entries in this series. Loved this one. Incredible waterfall and looked like a fantastic day to be out in that area. And in the words of today's youth, the shot of you all around the fire "goes hard."

Ortenburger Lake, Talus Lake, & Glacier Peak (Grand Teton NP) - October 2023

Marvelous looking trip. And great deal on the multiple grizzly sightings. Fantastic weather window you caught. We've been getting pretty lucky in the GYE this October, for the most part.

Lovely! Sounds like perfect conditions aside from the bit of mud!

    Lollipop Loop in the Pintlers

Ah yeah, I imagine so. We were surprised we didn't run into any north-bound CDT hikers actually since it was still early September. Figured there would still be some people on the tail end of the pack around then.

    Lollipop Loop in the Pintlers

Thanks! I'd really like to get back and get to the higher alpine areas toward the center of the range. Maybe next summer. And yeah, being out of school makes September and October so much better. Honestly had forgotten that that had kept me from doing much backpacking that time of year.

    Lollipop Loop in the Pintlers

We saw one person while we were backpacking. And then we came across a horse tethered to a tree, so there must have been someone associated with that horse too. Saw a few people at the campground and along the road. There were 4 other cars at the trailhead, so I think there must have been some...
