YES. I borrowed a HMG Ulta Mid for a trip through the Windies. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is a thing.

    Personal Locator Beacon Recommendations?

Spot user for 9 years now. The yearly contract isn't ideal, but very worth it to me. I appreciate that I can't text with it, part of a wilderness experience for me is not being able to communicate with the outside world.

Cuben/Dyneema is pretty awesome. The price difference is staggering though. Case in point- These two tents are exactly the same, except one is made of silnylon, and the other is cuben. (alright, the cuben one also has a few more guyline points) Black Diamond Mega Light $289 HMG 4 Pyramid...

I don't have any other thing to add, but a link to Steve Allen's Book: Canyoneering 2. It's likely all you'll need. I don't have any experience in this part of the plateau. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0874804671/?tag=backcountrypo-20

In Search of Snow in the Eastern Sierra

I hiked Whitney in 2008 with my Dad, and it was a very memorable trip. I'd really love to see more of the Range of Light, but the long drive eats up too much precious time. Some day.

Did the Silver/Chop loop this past spring. Besides the crowds near Neon, and around the Escalante, it was spectacular. I've got a few ideas in the works.

The hoodoo's don't form like that on top of the fold in that area, there is some similar in the LMT spot, but even still quite different. Looks like the red breaks area to me. near the Navel.
