    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

At that photo spot I was looking at the ledges below the Navajo to the south, which looked the best from GE. I'll make it back down there. I finally got to see this one recently. @Jammer inspired this one, but he doesn't get to answer.

    Guess the spot: Utah Edition

Blue line is where I made it too, all others are just ideas at this point. I've had ideas of getting up to Cliff Point from that canyon system, but haven't been able to explore it enough yet. The Canyoneer approach to Happy Dog is doable, but I'm thinking there is a few other ways. I'll...

Eye catching on maps? My first thought is Millers Creek, I've walked a way up it one nice January, but recall it looking a little different.

    How far is too far?

For a three night trip my maximum is about 5-6 hours. I need at least 4 nights if I'm going to drive much further. 14 hours each way? That's pretty rough, it would have to be quite the pay off, and I don't really mind driving. I'd just think it through. Is 14 hours going to be worth it?

    Coffee!!

breakthrough. I started cooking more in the backcountry, so the jetboil wasn't the perfect match. I've been using a separate titanium pot to cook with, and still bringing the jetboil for coffee and boiling water. stupid. I tried out the GSI Outdoor pour-over this weekend, and I'm set. Love it.

    First Solo Jitters

Congrats on having the drive to get out there, even if no on is with you. It will no doubt be intense, lonely, even downright terrifying. That is precisely the reason to go. Our world is too comfortable, get out of that, and the reward will be there. There is nothing more satisfying than...

What is your favorite hike in the Escalante/Hole in the rock road area?

Buy Steve Allen's Canyoneering 3. That whole area is worth exploration.

    Guess the spot

Your old place had a great view of that canyon, and I've wanted to visit it lately. Your new place has a better view though. This should go quick?
