A year in the Red River Gorge

Otters are fun to watch. The only place I have done so is on the Kern river downstream from Lake Isabella. Many years ago but I hope they are still there.

A year in the Red River Gorge

Let me clarify. That was many years ago when I lived in Michigan and visited the Smokies. I've been in Utah for 44 years and seldom get back to the East. But I thank you for the offer and I would welcome a tour if I find myself back that way. It's certainly a special place.

A year in the Red River Gorge

That was completely different. Thank you for sharing. I've driven by there many times and didn't know it was there.

    Hi there,

It's just a matter of keeping your eye on the weather forecast in July - Sept. Go to any high elevation and wait for the storms to roll in. Very few tourists in summer and most of them are near pavement. Let me know if you need some tips for high elevation locations.

    Hi there,

I prefer the deserts in the summer when the monsoon is raging. With proper elevation and shade it can be a great experience.

That is fantastic, Mike. Regarding the all white point in your avatar pic, I found one like that in Ruin Park in 1991. I pulled it out of the dirt. Loved it. Then I hid it for somebody to find sometime in the future.

    Album Waterfalls

You shatter me your grip on me a hold on me So dull it kills You stifle me Infectious sense of Hopelessness and prayers for rain I suffocate I breathe in dirt And nowhere shines but desolate And drab the hours all spent on killing time Again all waiting for the rain

Great Basin National Park - Wheeler Peak

Does that name indicate that you repair/admire/collect tractors? I spent some time at a friends place on Bear Lake and developed a love for tractors. Such incredible machines.

    Mojave National Preserve

It's a magic place. I spent a week there last October. Planned to do it again this year but it didn't happen. Not sure I understand your number system... xxx T. Is that common knowledge? Great pics. Especially that black cinder pile.

I think anything is allowed. Where is that? I've seen beautiful desert pics from Algeria, Morocco, and Libya. Ever been there? Hope all is well with you and your family.
