Wide Angle Lens Recommendation for Canon t2i

I really like my Canon ef-s 10-22, best zoom lens I own. Don't drop it in water, Canon won't fix it...

Planning to watch from the top of the Henry Mountains unless the weather is dismal.

Was that the Canon repair center? How long did it take?

    Copyright question

Settled. They were very reasonable about the whole thing though it took several calls to and from different people. They've taken the clip down, though I would have preferred they didn't actually, and won't use the pictures again. Didn't get $500 a picture, still have to work...

    Copyright question

So now ABC-4 has asked for permission to use the pictures, no compensation offered of course. I said no as I am pursuing CBS.

    Copyright question

Last night KUTV (SLC) used 12 of my pictures they got from Panoramio on their news segment about a lost hiker, they displayed a notice saying "Courtesy: Bob Palin" on them but in fact they had not contacted me at all. The pictures were actually from Sand Creek in Wayne County not the one in...

    Hole in the tire road!

I had a flat most of the way up the Henry Mountains - the wheel was corroded on - took quite a long time and some leveraged force to get it off. Since then I've greased all the contact points on the wheels, worthwhile! Also check your spare occasionally if it is exposed, my Tundra spare was...

    Album Spring in the desert

Well, no wonder I couldn't identify them , even after a second look. Dorde Wright (Wright's cactus) says that both are hybrids of Wrights and Parviflora. I think that settles it...

    Album Spring in the desert

More close up pictures of the above cacti were taken, I'm thinking they are Whipple but have sent the pictures to the expert. Found my first claret cup on the spur road out to Lower South Desert Overlook (Jailhouse Rock) Hartnett, Claret Cup Cactus Mound by Bob Palin, on Flickr Hartnett...

Topo lines in the black background

I noticed them, but I can't see them looking straight at the screen, have to look from an angle. Maybe if I cleaned the dust off... After cleaning the dust off I think it has more to do with how far from the screen I am, I use reading glasses which allow/require me to sit a little further away...

    Strange Flickr Stats Today....

I had a big spike in mine too, not 12,000 though. About double the usual hits meaning 500 for the day, I wonder if somebody was testing some sort of Flickr spider.

    Weather this weekend

I posted in the Spring in the Desert thread - found two next to the Temple of the Moon, it's awfully dry out there!

    Album Spring in the desert

The only cactus I found were these two, having a hard time being sure what they are, they were right next to each other at the Temple of the Moon in Lower Cathedral Valley. I think the white one is a Whipple Fishhook based on the flowers and that it seems to have the central spine hooked. The...

    Weather this weekend

Driving some folks round the Cathedral Valley loop on Saturday, probably a short hike somewhere Sunday afternoon. Hoping to find the first cactus bloom.

    Valley of Fire

Wow, I had absolutely no idea there was so much in there, have passed it many many times but only tried to enter once, turned out there was some sort of problem and the line stretched for miles.
