    About all the trail guides...

Nick. These are fantastic! I guess I haven't been paying attention enough lately. I will jump into these and look forward to the great hikes you have done. Thanks so much for all the work. I need to get out a little more, but in the cold and with a family its a chore. We'll totally use some...

    Fiftymile Creek, Escalante

@Nick what were the water levels when you did this last year? How many miles is that GPS track of yours? (is there a way to get the properties on it?) Thanks

    Wild Horse Window Rock Art

Just be careful. I think let nature take its course. Its already degrading. Wiping suspect rock art is a slippery slope and a dangerous practice. What would be fun is if the artist ever came forward. Their hoax would have taken some time.

    Devil's Garden

Nice find on the Denis Julien inscription. Its really right over the rock art. A friend asked the ranger at the Arches front desk once where it was, he gave us some vague directions...I haven't gotten around to checking on yet. Was really researching him once and tracked down info on 5 such...

Suggestions For Snow Camping In Northern Utah

My experience with snow caves was also as a boy scout, but ours was the lazy version. We went up to the spruces and dug out a couple of picnic tables. Slept under them with no worry of a collapse. Had a good time for not much work.

    Book Recommendations

I just finished the Emerald Mile, a fascinating read about the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. Has a lot of history and centers around running the river. Highly recommend it.

    Monument Canyon

Nice pictures Randy. I'm looking at a early November trip, was thinking Capitol Reef, but have never been here. How would the conditions be here that time of year? Chilly and short days? Anything else i should be concerned about?

REI now limiting returns to one year

Yep, this used to set them apart, now they are competing solely on price. Something they almost always lose at.

    moonshine wash conditions

I didn't mean to imply you're whimpy. At least you hiked to the bridge, I didn't want to have anything to do with that on the top of the cliffs.
