    Bag Night Challenge 2012

I'm in - but I'm going to suck compared to you guys. Now if we were talking days ski/boarding for 2011-2012 that might be different. Here it goes: March 16-17 Klondike camp out in tent. Total days: 1

    Protection Filters

I paid $100 for a new front lens for my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC (that I just sold). At the same time they cleaned the whole thing but that price also included a new lens hood (maybe $20 of the $100). It came back brand new and was sharper than it ever had been. I believe they must have also...

Zion Narrows Forecast for Spring 2012

We're so psyched for the Zion/Subway trip. I've been following the precipitation and water run-off report by Weather Service here in SLC. They do a great job on Facebook with their presentations: https://www.facebook.com/US.NationalWeatherService.SaltLake.gov

    Vignetting?

Yeah - that's a great question. Take a look at this review - says exactly what you are seeing, and that those with a crop sensor see considerably less vignetting: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Sigma-20mm-f-1.8-EX-DG-Lens-Review.aspx I would keep the body and look for another...

Goblin Valley with Boy Scouts - Apr 27-28

Hello everyone! I'm headed to Goblin Valley with the local Boy Scouts for a 1-nighter, and would like to get your thoughts on (1) places for the group to see/experience as a day hike (2) things that I shouldn't miss shooting (with my camera) (3) advice on a location to camp Friday night, and...

    My DIY camera pack harness

Yes - the exact same. It caught my eye while renting gear at ZAC the last time we went through the Narrows. It comes in handy for scout and family outings rain or shine, and snowboarding (it's on the chest - where I won't smash my gear).

    My DIY camera pack harness

This is cool. I went with the following, and strap it to me the same way as Summit, but with carabiners. The biggest draw to me was it being waterproof, but the negative is that it's big, and I don't know if this would rip, although it's held up OK so far.

Klondike Snow Cave Camping at Aspen Grove, UT 3/16/12

Haha - pee in the walls. Wow - that's almost too much info! The trip is always challenging for me mentally because of the thought of the cold, but when this was all said and done, it was an easy drag-n-drop besides building the snow caves a week ahead of time. I had a great, warm experience...
