    Bryce, GSENM and Capitol Reef

Christian this is pretty crazy. Not sure I've ever seen (or noticed) a conglomerate toadstool before.

    Bryce, GSENM and Capitol Reef

Like you said, 90% of the people are on the rim but so is 90% of the awesomeness. Dont get me wrong, Bryce is pretty bitchin' sweet but getting down in the hoodoos is pretty much the same old scenery step after step to me. Just to contradict myself... I would like to do the fairyland loop...

    moonshine wash conditions

First time I did moonshine in 2007 there was a drop that was a bit sketchy and we had some problems going back up. In 2011 this drop was pretty much gone.

    moonshine wash conditions

There's a fairly simple route around if you couldn't make it back up and of course the long route down towards the San Rafael River.

    moonshine wash conditions

I've done it a half dozen times with kids between 7 and 1. Its always been very straight forward with very simple drops in the 6'-10' range. I'm headed down there in a few weeks with the family so I will be sure to check it out.

    Fat Mans Misery 9.2012

After seeing lostlandscapes video TR I figured I should post my own..... I was pretty excited to get invited to Zion this past September with an experienced group to hit a few canyons I had been wanting to visit for quite some time. Thursday night we arrived at our reserved site in Zion and...

Utah Lake- The Break up 2013

Ice moved around a bit last weekend. The wind was blow to the south west so the ice have piles up on some west and south facing shores. The sun has been pretty harsh on it... so what not on the lake is melting fast. Utah Lake 3.12.2013 by Summit42, on Flickr seeing double by Summit42, on...

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

I missed this one, I think you must of posted in while I was typing my response. No offence was taken here. We're both just offering our .02 :twothumbs:

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

I guess its a good thing you started from the bottom up :D Mud and water in the upper end could make some of those bigger climbs pretty sketchy. Sorry you missed it.

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

If this was directed towards me no, we went from the bottom up and I wouldn't want to do it from the top down or even suggest it. The top end has a very skinny slot that descends at a fairly steep but short incline where larger folks like my self (and a few others on this thread) run the risk of...

I think this statement could get a lot of folks in over their heads.

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

As long as its not the ashtray I don't care what anyone calls it. The most difficult and tightest pinch is near the top of the slot so If you could make it past that you should be able to make it down the rest of the canyon. Down climbing may be another story, not saying it cant be done but...

    Zebra Canyon 2-2013

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

alene took that lower route I marked when they did the Big West Fork a few months ago. Without the snow its definitely the way to go. The dry fall is just to the left of this image from the bypass route and my snow slot shot was taken directly below this point.

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

I was thinking about your trip report as we were slithering out way up the slot. How far up the big wets fork did you end up making it? Ug, I know this guy..... for the record there was no way I was fitting up that hole  I had to take the direct route. Chockstone by ashergrey, on Flickr

Big West Fork of Red Breaks to The Cosmic Navel

Thanks Dave. I think you went a little high, here's my edit from what we saw. We knew we passed it while looking at the snowy traverse as we stood in the snow filled slot so we tried for an alternative. As I mentioned above there was quite a bit of snow on the north facing slopes. In this...
