Escalante River System Springs & Surface Water Map

Thanks for posting that. I'm always curious about headwaters and where all these drainages start from.

Three, Moonshine, and Blue John Canyons

Awesome pictures. Blue John area (and that awesome pool that's out there somewhere) are high on my list of places to visit.

Gear Review Kelty light trekker 20 degree down sleeping bag

I'm either a whimp when it comes to cold (which I've never really had a problem with in the past) or I got a bum-bag?? It just wasn't comfortable at all. I'm glad it worked out for you though.

    What 300 feet feels like

That looks exhausting. I'm hoping I'll have time for that someday when my kids are off and don't need me anymore :-).

Gear Review Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 2 backpacking tent

OK, so this review is coming as a result of my stupidity. I had the good fortune of using Nick's tent due to me grabbing the wrong tent, but the right tent poles on for our backpacking trip last week. I was so excited to be using my new MSR Hubba Hubba backpacking tent, but was so disappointed...

    Maple-Sage Beef Jerky

Yeah, I don't know why Chicken Jerky scares me more than regular beef jerky, but I guess it's all the same.

Boulder Mail trail to Sand Creek March 2012

I don't want to take too much away from @ibenick's trip report, but I put together a little video from the trip. This is my first time using the GoPro on a camping trip, but hoping to do more with it in the future. Inspiration comes from wes242 and I really admired his videos he's done. I...

Gear Review Kelty light trekker 20 degree down sleeping bag

Yeah, when I first bought it I was concerned with how to store it. At first I exclusively hung them in my garage, but then was made aware that I could just keep them in a large stuff sack, which is what I've been doing since. I think Deadeye008 is onto something; that I might be so big that...

Gear Review Kelty light trekker 20 degree down sleeping bag

I didn't have an issue with my REI mummy bag, but it was a "long" and so it had more room for sure. I still think a rectangular bag would be much better for me however. I'll have to look into them.

Awesome TR. Did you do that second video with your gopro? Or with your regular camera?

Gear Review Kelty light trekker 20 degree down sleeping bag

I was able to get this bag out and use it for the first time this past weekend on our camping trip to the Capitol Reef/Escalante area. This was the first down sleeping bag I purchased and I was mostly excited about the possibility of having a down sleeping bag and getting one at an awesome price...

    Chimney Canyon, San Rafael Swell

Agreed. Pretty fascinating to see how one killed cow can save a canyon. So odd, this outdoor community we live in. So many people with varying values they hold dearly. Sierra Club seems to want to kill anything with a heartbeat that could cause damage to the area. I don't really care about the...

    Krooked Kanyon

Very nice. Pretty cool to find new un-explored canyons. Are you officially calling this Krooked Kanyon?

    Chimney Canyon, San Rafael Swell

Looks like an awesome plan. I like the idea that there is a spring, although it would be nice to know if it's seasonal or not. I hear it's one of the truly backpackable canyons in the swell (besides Eardley/strait wash), but like all, you either need a shuttle or just an up and back. I like that...

    Camping in the West Desert

Nice spot indeed. Could at least be a nice quick car camping getaway. I'm assuming from your post that there wasn't a lot to do in the area besides camp? Any decent cliffs for rappelling or practicing rappelling?

Goblin Valley with Boy Scouts - Apr 27-28

I'd echo Summit: Ding/Dang loop would be good for the boy scouts. I have personally never done Dang, but from everything I've heard the big dry fall can be bypassed or for a little adventure for some of the older kids, do the hand-line thing. Camping for that group could be done in the spots...
