    budget bikepacking bags?

I use a couple of bags made by Moosetreks that are sold on Amazon, and they have worked well for the price. Here's one: https://www.amazon.com/Moosetreks-Touring-Bikepacking-Commuting-Resistant/dp/B074XR4J8X I've found a number of different inexpensive options on Amazon. Another brand I've...

    Any Tips in Mt Whitney?

    1. I usually just have a fleece, down jacket and rain/windbreaker in the mountains during the summer, and have never needed more than that. 2. I left my tent and gear in camp and then packed it up after coming down from the summit, and it seemed like most people do that. 3. I left at 4am from...

Really? Why do you say that? I have been driving at JK for over 10 years and have had no problems with either of the ones I've owned, and I put A LOT of miles on them, both on and off-road.

Cedar Mesa Utah Trip. Conditions? Water?

I can't tell you what water is going to be link at the end of June, but it was already very dry on Cedar Mesa this spring and we haven't had much, if any rain, since then. I suspect water will be tough to come by, especially since we've been breaking heat records this week on the Colorado Plateau!

    Conditions (water/bugs) for Escalante/Death Hollow

I stayed in the creek instead of following the trails through the poison ivy.

Though landfill-safe, wag bags can’t be thrown in the garbage

I think any place that requires the use of WAG bags should have a place to drop them off when you are done, since otherwise most people will drop them in the first garbage can they come across. I know the Elephant Hill trailhead it The Needles has a garbage can that is only for used WAG bags.

Though landfill-safe, wag bags can’t be thrown in the garbage

I thought this article from Moab was interesting, especially with more and more places requiring WAG bags. https://www.moabsunnews.com/news/article_ba33ad14-b931-11eb-8d0e-139c67d1a485.html

Four Days in Salt Creek Canyon, April 2021

I get it. Those campsites are used every night (from spring through fall, at least) by groups of people...it wouldn't take long for there to be a ring of catholes circling each campsite about 200 feet out.

Four Days in Salt Creek Canyon, April 2021

I think having only 4 campsites in upper Salt Creek keeps it less-peopled. We only passed a couple people on the trail over 4 days last month, which was was a much better experience than when we were in upper Grand Gulch a few weeks earlier and must have seen over 100 people.

Grand Gulch (Kane to Bullet) Water Availability

I was there at the beginning of April. Todie was dry. We found one small nasty pool of water in Todie Canyon that I would have only used in an emergency, so we continued on and found a pool that was slightly better that the Pourover. Coyote Canyon was flowing and good. We didn't stop at...
