Looking for the perfect town to retire in a la "Northern Exposure"

I’ve had a good run in GJ, but it’s getting too busy for me here, so we are hoping to move somewhere smaller in the next few years. Planning to stay in western CO, though.

    Santa's naughty list

While I completely agree with this, I feel a lot of this problem stems from the fact that in many instances you do not get even a partial refund if you cancel a permit. That does not really give much incentive for a person to cancel a permit they won't be using. Agencies need to offer at least...

Permit system for Angels Landing starting April 2022

I would rather see the permit fees go back to the parks/agencies instead of a private company. We should not be privatizing this.

Permit system for Angels Landing starting April 2022

The more they advertise (and they do on social media), the more people apply for permits, the more money they make, the harder it becomes for everyone to get permits. It's a losing situation for everyone except them.

Not always by choice, they are mandated to move to it.

Permit system for Angels Landing starting April 2022

I'm pretty sure all of the revenue from the lottery ($6 per application) will go to Rec.gov, a private company, just like all the other lotteries for permits on Rec.gov. The more people they can entice to enter the lottery via advertising, the more money they make and the harder permits are to...

    Hiking Horse Canyon?

Very sandy most of the way in the wash. Not bad if it's frozen in the morning, but it will get softer as it warms up.

Step Canyon access to Grand Gulch, Cedar Mesa

I don't know of anyone who has accessed GG from Step. I would think that if it were an easy way into GG, more people would be using it.

    MPB - trade camera gear

Most of my recent photos from the past 4-5 months have been taken with a Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II point & shoot camera. It's kind of expensive for a point & shoot, but is so much nicer to carry around than a DSLR or mirrorless camera... As far as MPB, I've never heard of it before.
