Maybe.... But you need to add a 2000 ft elevation gain in your training

Iʻm checking out the ground subsidence, cracks, and sinkholes from last week's earthquake swarm

Time to get in cycling shape! I've been roped into, by my wife, the Front Runner Metric Century here in Salt Lake, the second weekend of May, so it is time to take the tandem in for a tune up, and get a couple new tubes and tires. It's been nine years since we last rode the tandem. I hope I haven't forgotten how. :)

That is easy. Choose the rear seat and let Shelia do most of the pedaling. :)

The Subaru is looking good in that picture! Did you wash and wax it?

No wash and wax, just an antique Cannondale tandem to bring out the best in the Sube. Or maybe it's the Canon EOS 1DX that makes it shine? :)

Unfortunately, I can't fit on the backseat of the tandem or I'd do it. :D

This was the weekend that the doctor told me that I could start "light hiking", but Salt Lake got some snow this week, and I didn't want to deal with the snow and mud, and also I didn't want to put micro spikes on my foot just yet. So I'll wait a week or two for the foothills to melt out some before hitting a trail. Instead, I just extended up City Creek to the 1.5 mile marker for a total distance of 6.25 miles this morning. The foot did well.

The day has arrived, my first hike in three months - granted it was a very easy one in Ensign Peak. Still, it was nice to be back on a trail even if it was a short one. No short supply of mud though this morning.

Scatman, Good to see you getting out and about again.

Extended to the 2.0 mile marker in City Creek this morning for a total of 7.25 miles.
The return of Scatty McPoppins!

At this rate you'll be in double digit mileage by next weekend. :)

Mrs. TractorDoc and I bundled up today and made the hike to Blue Hen Falls in CVNP. I scrambled down to the base of the falls to get a closer look at the icicles.

While I was down by the falls I had a guy with a camera ask if he could take my picture. I think he said he was creating some sort of portrait blog -- he must have been desperate if he was asking to use me as a subject. I figured why not. . . maybe this would be how I get "discovered." :)

Mrs. TD thought this was hilarious and snapped this photo -- he may have been telling me to suck in my gut here.

After my photo shoot Mrs. TractorDoc and I wandered farther downstream to have a look at Buttermilk Falls -- another interesting waterfall on Spring Creek. It is less known/less visited/less advertised than Blue Hen because it is located outside the park on land owned by a neighboring ski area. Luckily they do not care if people hike over to the waterfall.

The ice provided quite a display. Mrs. TractorDoc at the brink.

Lastly, because this is the "Members of BCP" thread.

Scatty McPoppins is back! Why didn't the wind lift me and my umbrella all the way home?

Did I spot Patrick in one of these shots?
