Looks incredibly daunting. The non-technical route is on the other side, correct?

Yeah, the non-technical route is the Southwest Coulier. We couldn't see any of that route, but from what I understand there is a lot of snow in the coulier this year so not many people have been up it yet.
 
Was this recent? I am heading up there on Wednesday and would be grateful to hear about conditions.
Just got back from hitting granite peak via the southwest ramp on Friday August 16th. There is still a lot of snow in the couloir. We used crampons and ice axes to get up and set up repels to get down the steep snow just to be safe. Snow was icy in the early morning so stiffer mountaineering boots were best. Bring a rope for the descent. Lots of ice on the rocks. Bring a helmet there were a few rogue rocks that came gown the chute at us with no one else in the couloir.
