Yep! Teton Pass, located in the Sawtooths. Which makes me laugh every time I hear it because of the more well known Teton Pass and Sawtooth mountains.

I knew that would make it too easy. NASA tested the moon rover all around that area...... It has some rough lava fields. One doesn't think of AZ for volcanos....
 
im gonna have to spend some time searching for this. i think i know where it is but can't nail down the place
