I mentioned rain....well at 8400 ft the snow started, 4" at 9600 ft..... I slipped up in the early morning to get some pics, after all snow in JULY?!
These are from the top of Sawtelle Peak, Island Park, Idaho. The first pic is looking kinda NE towards West Yellowstone, the second is looking kinda toward the Tetons ....................

Hey congrats Larry !!!! So you made it back and finished it appears! I need to pick your brain about the 100 mile wilderness. Ive been toying with the idea of putting a Maine trip together. How was all the fording on the 100 MW? As bad as all the books make it sound?

Fording is no problem. I think I only dunked my feet 2 or maybe 3 times. There are a bunch more rock-hops, but as long as you bring trekking poles, they're definitely doable. The deepest ford, I think, is just slightly deeper than knee-deep. It's the one immediately south of Gulf Hagas, right when you come off the Barren-Chairback range.

How were the flowers up on Timp @andyjaggy?

About a week past prime I would say. There were still some nice patches, but I would say over 50% of them were starting to wilt. 3rd to last week of July seems to be the sweet spot up there. At least for the years I have been up there.

Thanks for the timely reply! I've been debating whether to spend the weekend up there or in West Fork Blacks Fork. If the flowers up there are past peak, I think I'll head to the Uintas.

I would head to the Uintas. Though I was just in Allsop and the flowers there were past peak as well. I think they are pretty much done wherever you might go.

Yeah, it seems like we're a little ahead this year. When I was in the Uintas over the 24th of July the flowers were peaking. The flowers are a more integral part of the Timp trip for me than WFBF.
