Album Weather, Storms and Clouds

This is my most-viewed photo on flickr, with over 6,000 views. thing is, it's not even in focus. I had just set the camera out on the porch and was going to try some long exposures to see if I could get some lightning shots. This was the first shot, before I had properly focused. It doesn't look too bad at this size though.
EDIT: 01/06/2013 -- This just passed through 10,000 views on flickr.

I wont be surprised if this photo passes 100,000 viewer.

Two quotes to to mind as I look through these shots.

The first is, "bad weather, makes for great photos".

The second is, " no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear"

Took this on a motorcycle trip September of 2011 from the ORV parking lot near Factory Butte (was pummeled by hail earlier in the day on Boulder Mountain) . I was thinking of camping near Goblin Valley but after seeing this sky worsen as I headed north on 24, I opted for a motel. When I flipped on the news in Green River they reported a tornado warning in the area...crazy day on the bike!

Cache Valley, UT. I had my 2 1/2 year old in the pack with me, along for the hike was my wife, Mom and Aunt. This was in early August, after one hell of a lightning storm and a 15 minute down pour. We made it out cold, wet and muddy. I took this photo 10 minutes before everything around us lite up.
