Hey all,
My partner and I are headed to a wedding in LA in Late August and are tacking on a backcountry trip to the agenda, and seeking ideas. We fly into Fresno late morning on a Friday, and have until Tuesday noon to exit with enough time to get a shower and drive to LA, so 4 nights, 3 full days, two half days give or take to work with, including picking up permits. We have looked at the Mineral King area and are interested, but most of the popular permits/loops are taken up.
I put together a loop going through Hockett Meadows, to the Blossom Lakes, and then down into Little Kern River drainage up and over Farewell Gap as a brainstorm. I think it would be the limit of what my wife would have fun doing. I would be interested to hear what others have to say about the area, or hear any suggestions for similar trips in the Southern Sierra.
Appreciate any suggestions, I don't know the Sierra well at all.
