I am not overly familiar with restaurants in these areas other than the Pizza at Escalante Outfitters. I am taking some family down into the area and figure since I will be torturing them with hiking I would take them out to lunch or dinner depending on what time we end up in either Escalante or Boulder.

Just looking for some suggestions from those of you that have spent more time down there than I have.

Thanks.

When are you going? On May 7, Hell's Backbone Grill reopens. We haven't made it there but have heard lots about it (check out the part of their website "Our Story" for more info) and would have gone if the pandemic hadn't messed up our travel plans.

Otherwise, we didn't like anything nearly as much as the pizza at Escalante Outfitters. :)

Looks like we will miss their opening by a day. We will most likely hitting the restaurant on May 6th. We might just stick with pizza.

the Circle D restaurant in Escalante has always been perfectly good! also the Kiva Coffeehouse is super fun.

anyways there's so few options between these two towns that you may as well just eat somewhere that's open and has a free table when you get there :)

if you drive a bit further I've heard good things about the new place in Torrey, can't remember the name but it's where Cafe Diablo was for a long time

Hard to beat Escalante Outfitters.....Love it there....When we were in Escalante two years ago there was a food truck across the road from the visitor center. I was an excellent bbq!!

A friend was just in Escalante and she said the 'Ranch Dog Kitchen' was FAB.....Opened fairly recently I believe.

Looks like a few options. I will have to see what people are in the mood for. I've only eaten Pizza at Escalante Outfitters but it was good enough I would have no problem visiting there again.

It is now called Hunt & Gather. They have a wide variety of meals, many people here enjoy it. Bought by new owners a year or two ago.

My favorite restaurant over in Garfield County is Hell's Backbone, I consider it really delicious. Escalante Outfitters is nice too. Kiva Coffeehouse is also excellent, I recommend checking them out too. The Circle D Eatery is also a good place to eat at.

Hells backbone is good but pricey

Nemo's in escalante was good the other day
