Lightning on Half Dome--what???

And yes, there is a jumble of rocks on the east summit of Half Dome known as the Cave.

I didn't go in it but I'm assuming the "cave" is the opening just below my wife? Not much cover there from lightning.

Shallow caves are deadly if lightning hits... Probly better than out in open tho. Story just doesn't sit right with me.....

Many years ago, one of my professors lost his son to lightning in that cave. Exactly the same scenario. Not uncommon, evidently human behavior is a constant. I know it is hard to give up on hiking when a permit is hard to get, but half dome is not the place to be if there is chance of lighting.
