High Adventure 2015 - Day 1 - Canyoneering Double Arch Canyon

"Let's take the shortcut" I said. That should have been the groups first clue about how grueling the hike to the top of this canyon would be. Josh and I had done the hike just a week before with his little kids. It was a great route, but a bit exposed. Since we would be walking in full sun, I figured the short cut would allow us more options for those that might not want to rappel, as well as more shade from the hot sun. Well... we should've just went the "long" route! The shortcut was brutal! In the end it proved to be a blessing though.

Blake, what is the two rope set up on the boys rapping? Were you belaying them simultaneously??

The second rope is rigged as a top belay. Essentially we had complete control over the rappel from the top. We did this for each person that rappelled.
